Injury to a child by friends father?

girl 13,boy 14.girl invites boy to here house while her father is out drinking.She lives with her father.father comes home and finds boy setting on a bed in his garage and girl setting on bed also.the father picks boy up but throat and then grabbed his shirt and slung him onto ground and was kicking him in his ribs.Is this considered protecting his property or is it still injury to a child or something like it? Cops took report and when the mother of the boy went down to file against the man,they told her that the man was protecting his property and the girl had no right inviteing him over.We live in Texas
